In an era dominated by desk jobs, smart devices, and a heap of stress, bad posture often creeps in unnoticed. In this episode we explore how poor posture doesn’t just affect your back. Hips, shoulders, neck, and even knees can pay the price. Plus, slouching might sabotage both your confidence and focus—yikes! It’s time to arm yourself with a few simple assessments that can make a world of difference.

Quick Self-Checks You Can Do at Home

1. The Photograph Test

Get your camera ready! This is literally as simple as it sounds. Take some full-body photos—one from the front and one from the side—while standing naturally. Once snapped, you can assess a few key landmarks.

  • Front View: Are your earlobes at the same height? Are your shoulders level? What about your hips?
  • Side View: Draw an imaginary line from your earlobbles to your ankles. Do your shoulders, hips, knees, and ankles align along this line?

If not, you might be dealing with issues like forward head posture or lateral pelvic tilt.

2. The Wall Test

For this one, all you need is an empty wall space and a measuring tape:

  • Stand against a wall with your heels 2-4 inches from the baseboard.
  • Your head, shoulder blades, and hips should touch the wall.
  • Check how much you can slide your hand between your lower back and the wall. If it slides too much or your posture isn’t aligned, there might be an issue.

Regular practice against the wall can actually help retrain your body to adopt this stance naturally.
